June Gleason

June Gleason

June Gleason passed away peacefully on March 11, 2026, at her home in Clark, New Jersey, surrounded by her loving family.

June was born in Newark, New Jersey, and raised in South Orange before moving to Westfield in 1974. In 1969, she married the love of her life, Hugh Gleason. Together they shared a beautiful marriage for 46 years until his passing in 2015.

June was a graduate of Columbia High School in Maplewood, New Jersey. She went on to attend Glassboro State College in Glassboro, where she earned her degree in Elementary Education. She later continued her education at Kean College in Union, earning a master’s degree as a Reading Specialist.

June dedicated 35 years of her life to education as a teacher at Jefferson Elementary School in the Westfield Public School District, retiring in 2008. She was deeply committed to her students and was passionate about helping children develop a love of reading and learning.

In addition to her career in education, June was devoted to community service. She volunteered as an activity coordinator with the ELEC P.R.I.D.E. program and served as President of the Westfield League of Women Voters.

June loved warm weather and especially cherished spending time with her husband, daughter, family, and friends at their beach house on the Jersey Shore. She enjoyed playing bridge with friends, swimming, and tennis. June also was an avid theatergoer, often seeing shows at Paper Mill Playhouse and on Broadway. Above all, she was a devoted and loving grandmother who treasured every moment with her grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter, Colleen Dupuis and her husband, Andrew; her sister, Jayne Lambo; and her beloved grandchildren, Riley and Cooper Dupuis.

Visitation was held on Sunday, March 15, 2026, at Memorial Funeral Home in Fanwood. A Funeral Mass was celebrated on Monday, March 16, 2026, at St. Helen’s R.C. Church in Westfield. Interment followed at Fairview Cemetery, Westfield.

In lieu of flowers, June’s family asks that you make a donation in her memory to one of her favorite places, the Paper Mill Playhouse.
