With economic uncertainty affecting the lives of so many people, food insecurity is a significant need nationwide, including in our surrounding communities and right here in Westfield. To help address this issue – which is unfortunately not new – Scouting for Food was established 35 years ago, first in the Scouting America’s Greater St. Louis Council, and it quickly grew into a “National Good Turn” for the hundreds of Scout councils throughout the country. Patriots’ Path Council, which oversees the Scouting program in all or part of five counties in Central and Northwestern New Jersey, soon joined this national drive, and it has been one of the key townwide service projects for Scouts in Westfield ever since.
