SUMMIT – On Tuesday, November 18th at 9:30 a.m., the Summit Area Old Guard will hear Dr. Sabahat Bokhari discuss Amyloidosis with Cardiomyopathy (ATTR-CM). This underdiagnosed and progressive disease can lead to heart failure. ATTR_CM is commonly experienced as shortness of breath, fatigue, weakness, and swelling of the legs, all of which may limit physical activity. Being aware of the symptoms is critical to getting the correct diagnosis. Dr. Bokhari is a widely recognized Amyloid expert who pioneered the development of a non-invasive imaging method used worldwide. He also serves as the Director of the Cardiac Amyloidosis and Cardiomyopathy Center at RWJBarnabas Health, the first program of its kind in New Jersey.
