Westfield United Fund Hosts Oktoberfest Celebration

WESTFIELD – The Westfield United Fund (WUF) kicked off its 2025 Campaign in festive style on Saturday, September 27, with an Oktoberfest celebration that brought together approximately 100 supporters, neighbors, and friends to celebrate community and the impactofgivinglocally.Thefundraising goal of the annual campaign, which runs from July 1 – June 30, is $500,000.

Hosted graciously by Ginny and Joe Malley at their Westfield home, the event featured live music by Shots N Earplugs, delicious fare donated by Farinolio, and craft beer provided at generous pricing by Lions Roar Brewing Company. Guests enjoyed party décor by A Contented Home, and the warmth of community spirit in support of a meaningful cause.

Attendees heard powerful testimonials about how contributions help Westfield United Fund’s local Partner Agencies deliver vital services. Dr. Andrew Perry, Principal of Washington Elementary School, highlighted the success of the After-School Tutoring Program, which provides free academic support for elementary students facing unique challenges.

Marla Itzkin, Development Director at the Westfield Area YMCA, shared how support from theWestfield United Fund has an immediate impact on local families in need. “If anyone comes to the Y with financial hardship who lives or works in our service areas towns of Cranford, Garwood, Mountainside, or predominantly Westfield in need of childcare or other programs or services, they receive the assistance they need. We are able to say we don’t turn anybody away in large part because of the support of the Westfield United Fund,” said Ms. Itzkin.

Caroline James Ellison, President of the Westfield United Fund Board of Trustees, spoke on the power of collective giving. “Community is what lifts us all up. And for those who need the support, it means so much to them that their community is behind them,” she said.
