I am Jeremy Berman, a father, husband, small business owner, and youth sports coach. Westfield is an incredible town, and I am running for Mayor because I want to help preserve what makes it special, while ensuring it continues to prosper. I look forward to meeting with friends, neighbors, and fellow residents in the coming months, but until then, I’d like to take this opportunity to share more about myself and why I’ve decided to run for mayor.

I was born and raised in Vineland, New Jersey, where my parents instilled in me a strong sense of civic responsibility. After attending Haverford College, where I was an all-conference baseball player, I earned my MBA from Columbia Business School and spent more than a decade building a successful career in finance at institutions such as J.P. Morgan and Morgan Stanley. Working at large financial institutions taught me a great deal — not just about economics and strategy, but also about the importance of collaboration. I later co-founded and sold a boutique investment firm during one of the most challenging economic periods in recent history. While living in New York, I had the privilege of coaching baseball and tutoring at-risk children through the non-profit organization Harlem RBI.

After nearly two decades on Wall Street, I was eager for a new professional challenge and became a small business owner, employing over 50 people. In this capacity, I’ve spent the last several years navigating the realities of zoning, permitting, work force management, economic development, and small business operations. This experience has given me firsthand insight into how local government impacts our daily lives—and how much better it can work for residents and business owners alike.

My wife, Erica, and I moved to Westfield 14 years ago to raise our sons, Zach and Charlie. Since moving here, I’ve spent over a decade coaching youth sports — engaging with families and encouraging and teaching my sons and other children in our town. Coaching has been incredibly fulfilling and has shown me how strong our community is when we show up for each other and our kids.

I’m running for Mayor because I believe Westfield deserves a leader who is approachable, practical, and focused on delivering real solutions. My experience working at major financial firms, along with my current role as a small business owner, has equipped me with a unique skill set that can make a meaningful impact and directly benefit our town. I’ve built teams, managed complex organizations, adapted to changing circumstances, and know how to bring people together to get things done. I am committed to serving the town that has given so much to my family.

As Mayor, I’ll prioritize transparency, fiscal responsibility, public safety, smart investments in our town, and making local government more responsive to residents’ needs. Whether it’s cutting red tape for small businesses, improving our recreational spaces, or making sure residents feel heard at every turn, I’ll bring a hands-on, business minded approach to Town Hall.
