Tech Support. Librarian Victoria offers One-on-One Technical Help on Tuesday and Thursday , October 29 and 31, and every other week thereafter until November 26. Sessions are 30 minutes. Get help with using cellphones, tablets, or computers. Each session must be registered for, and people can register for only one time slot per day. Register on wmlnj.org.

Tai Chi, November 1, 15, 22 and Dec 6 from 3 to 4 p.m. at The Westfield Memorial Library. Dr. Gang Huang will begin teaching another session of The Fundamentals of Tai Chi. Tai Chi, an ancient practice that originated in China, is proven to boost both mental and physical health. Register for each session separately on the library’s website wmlnj.org. Each session builds upon skills learned the previous week.

Carrie Jackson, November 2 from 2 to 3 p.m. The Weiss Family Jazz Series will present Carrie Jackson, well-known jazz vocalist, and her Jazzin’ All Stars band at the Westfield Library. Jackson sings and performs in the style of the great ladies of jazz, such as Sarah “Sassy” Vaughan, Ella Fitzgerald, and Dinah Washington. With her multifaceted style, Jackson infuses classic jazz standards with sweet soul; wails the blues; and performs cabaret and Gospel, all complimented by her engaging stage presence and professional musicians on Radam Schwartz, piano; Takashi Otsuka, bass; and Gordon Lane, drums. David Podles, Wednesday, November 6, at 7 to 8 p.m. Internationally known violinist Dr. David Podles will present “Stroll in the Piazza-an Italian music collection.” He will perform the most famous, poignant and celebrated Italian pieces from the classical beauty of Vivaldi and Paganini to traditional tarantellas and mazurkas. He will also play Italian-American music created by immigration to the U.S., flanked by Opera greats such as Rossini and Puccini. Westfield Memorial Library, 550 East Broad Street

Stanley Milford Virtual Author Event, November 7, 7 to 8 p.m. This is a virtual author event through the Library Speaker Consortium and you must register to receive the Zoom link. A Navajo Investigator’s Search for the Unexplained: In Conversation with Stanley Milford, Jr. Navajo Ranger, Stanley Milford, Jr. will talk about the chilling and cleareyed memoir of his investigations into bizarre cases of the paranormal and the unexplained in Navajoland. https://wmlnj.org/

Westfield Area YMCA Paint and Donate. Show your appreciation through creation and paint a canvas in honor of Veteran’s Day on Friday, November 8 from 12 to 2 p.m. at the Westfield Area YMCA, 220 Clark St. Westfield. All artwork will be donated to VFW Homefront Heroes to brighten the lives of those who have served. This event is open to the community and $10 to participate. Registration is required in advance at the Main Y Facility or online.

The Fanwood Performance Series presents an evening of indie-alternative music with Matt Cook & The Heard, a five-piece band based in Asbury Park. Mr. Cook writes songs that range from melancholic to exuberant, drawing influence from artists including Brian Wilson and Ben Folds. On Saturday, November 9, doors open at 6:30 p.m. and showtime is 7 at Fanwood’s historic Carriage HouseAdmission is $15 for adults, $10 for students and seniors – cash at the door. Balance, flexibility and stability. The Westfield Area YMCA invites you to a free presentation on November 12 from 12:45 to 1:45pm focusing on balance, flexibility and stability. Team members from Ivy Rehab will provide practical exercises to prevent injury and improve overall health. Learn the importance of exercise through a mix of lecture, demonstration, and hands-on practice. Quick screenings will also be available. Located at the Main Y Facility, 220 Clark Street, Westfield.
