You Can’t Take It with You, Westfield Community Players presents its first show of the season. It’s a classic comedy about a wacky family who marches to the beat of their own drum. Things like stress, jobs, and paying taxes are for other people, not for them! But when young Alice becomes engaged to her company’s vice president Tony, the clan must straighten up to meet the new in-laws. Disaster ensues when Tony’s parents arrive at the wrong time and see Alice’s family in all of its crazy glory. From Pugsley to Grandmama, there’s something fun for everyone at Addams Family Fun Day. Head on over to Quimby Street in Downtown Westfield, which will be closed to cars for a day of family fun — including Addams Family character visits, live performances, incredible displays by the Maniac Pumpkin Carvers, bubble demonstrations, pumpkin decorating, activities with local merchants, and more.
Mostly Music, Sunday, October 20, at 3:30 p.m. New York Philharmonic’s first cellist Carter Brey will join young violinists Stella Chen and Clara Neubauer, veteran violist Paul Neubauer and bass Blake Hinson to perform the Kreutzer Sonata by Leos Janacek, Dvorak’s String Quintet in G Major, and String Quartet No. 10 in F by George Onslow—a mix of periods and moods. Charles Addams, Monday, October 28, 7 to 8:30 p.m. Lifelong Charles Addams fan Ron MacCloskey presents a program about Charles Addams and his creation of The Addams Family at The Westfield Memorial Library. During this presentation, McCloskey will display a portion of his vast collection of Addams memorabilia. Other items from his collection are in the library’s front display case as well.
