Blue Devils Oust Highlanders, Fall to Minutemen in UCT, 3-2
Patience and a methodical approach to stretch out a tightly packed defense paid off for the third-seeded Westfield High School boys soccer team when it hosted the sixth-seeded Governor Livingston Highlanders in the quarterfinal round of the Union County Tournament (UCT) at Gary Kehler Stadium in Westfield on October 11. The left-to-right, right-toleft spreading maneuver managed to get the Highlanders out of position on several occasions but once was enough for the 9-3-2 Blue Devils to earn a 1-0 victory and a trip to the UCT semifinal round to face the second-seeded Elizabeth Minutemen.
