As longtime residents of Westfield, we are writing to express our support for Councilwoman Emily Root in Ward 1.

Since Councilwoman Root was appointed last year, she has demonstrated a keen grasp of the issues that impact the community and has exercised good judgment in every voting instance. She meticulously evaluates each proposal and considers its potential consequences, long-term effects, and alignment with Westfield’s best interests.

When she was running for election last November, Councilwoman Root was clear in her support for smart growth, which to us means building well-designed housing, offices and retail close to a train station such as the one we have in Westfield.

We support her vote in favor of One Westfield Place, which is an example of smart growth. Councilwoman Root understands the beneficial impact that One Westfield Place will have on our downtown, our quality of life, our property taxes and our property values.

By thoroughly researching and analyzing all aspects of an issue, Councilwoman Root consistently makes well-informed and thoughtful decisions. That’s why she earned our vote in last year’s special election and will again in this November’s election.
