Juan Pichardo and Richard Merrette added two hits each.
Douglas VW 14, Phenomenal Boyz 13 On a beautiful evening at Memorial Park #3, Douglas VW avenged an earlier season loss to the P-Boyz with a thrilling 7th-inning walk-off victory. In a game featuring seven lead changes, the V-Dubs battled until the final at-bat before securing the dramatic win.
Leading the charge on both offense and defense was “Player of the Game” Steve Steransak. Steve delivered a perfect 5-for-5 performance at the plate, highlighted by a towering firstinning home run and the game-winning walk-off hit in the bottom of the seventh. Steransak also came up big defensively, turning an unassisted double play in the seventh inning to halt the P-Boyz’ late rally and keep the V-Dubs within striking distance.
Frank Padovano also had a standout performance, collecting three hits, including a clutch seventh-inning double that put the winning run in scoring position and set the stage for Steransak’s heroics. The V-Dubs’ offense was relentless all night, with every player in the lineup reaching base at least twice. On the mound, Rich Gaul kept the P-Boyz off balance throughout the game, earning his sixth victory of the season.
