Blue Devils’ 7-Run 3rd Ousts Union, 9-3, in UCT Quarters
Containing the firepower of their first two batters would be key for the sixth-seeded Westfield High School baseball Blue Devils when they hosted the 14th-seeded Union Farmers in the quarterfinal round of the Union County Tournament in Westfield on May 13. Blue Devil sophomore pitcher Ian Dickey was able to contain the threats of leadoff hitter Mark Womack and No. 2 hitter Johnny Velez, while his teammates erupted for seven runs in the bottom of the third inning en route to a 9-3 victory.
