Safety vs. Control: Rethinking WHS’ New Policies
As the year has passed, the Westfield High School (WHS) administration has gotten stricter with the rules they are implementing. Certain new safety measures include mandatory lanyard-wearing and SmartPass, a digital hall pass system designed to manage student movement. The system allows teachers to track student locations in real-time, providing administrators with data on student accountability. Although these new regulations are meant to keep our school and its students safe, the way they have been implemented can be improved.
