Trio Horszowski (pronounced Hor-sh-ow-ski) takes its inspiration from the “musicianship, integrity and humanity” of the pre-eminent Polish pianist Mieczyslaw Horszowski (1892-1993). Trio pianist Rieko Aizawa was Horszowski’s last pupil at the Curtis Institute (Philadelphia). Ms. Aizawa, who performs as a soloist and with chamber music ensembles, is on the faculty at Bard College Conservatory of Music, the Brooklyn College Conservatory of Music, and the Juilliard School. She is a Steinway artist who, on Sunday, March 15, will perform on St. Paul’s recently acquired Steinway Model B 7-foot grand piano.
Two-time Grammy-nominated violinist Jesse Mills performs everything from classical to contemporary music, as well as music of his own making. Itzhak Perlman is among his renowned teachers. Mr. Mills is on the faculty of Bard College’s Longi School of Music and the Brooklyn College Conservatory of Music. A native of Berlin, Germany, Ole Akahoshi was the youngest cellist (11), to be accepted as a student of the legendary Pierre Fournier. He continued his studies with Aldo Parisot at Juilliard and the Yale School of Music, and with Janos Starker at Indiana University.
