Raiders Halt Pioneers, 49-33, In UCT Boys Hoops 1st Round
Overwhelming defense set the stage for a very successful outcome for the sixth-seeded Scotch Plains-Fanwood Raider basketball boys when they hosted the 14th-seeded New Providence Pioneers in the second round of the Union County Tournament (UCT) in Scotch Plains on February 12. The 12-12 Raiders’ defense limited the 5-16 Pioneers to just five points in the first quarter then totally slammed the door on them in the second quarter en route to a 49-33 victory.
