Steeple Concerts Plans Ziggy and Miles Performance

WESTFIELD — Acclaimed Australian acoustic guitar duo Ziggy and Miles are rescheduled to perform at St. Paul’s Church in Westfield on Sunday, February 15 at 5 p.m. Steeple Concerts at St. Paul’s says the duo’s original January 18 Steeple concert date was postponed due to heavy snow. Now, the general, music-loving public is instead invited to enhance their Valentine’s Day weekend festivities by attending this lovely Ziggy and Miles concert event.

Described by The AgeMagazineas“Australian guitarist brothers making history,” Ziggy and Miles are “two ofAustralia’s finest young musicians who are forging an international career.” Winners of the 2023 YCA (Young Concert Artists) Susan Wadsworth International Auditions, the brothers are the first guitar duo to receive this prestigious award in the organization’s 63-year history.

Their album, Sidekick, was featured as one of WQXR’s ‘Best New Classical Albums of 2023.” It is praised by Soundboard Magazine, who says the album is “[played] with perfect unanimity and admirable virtuosity.” Sidekick showcases new works written for the brothers, plus their own “transfixingly beautiful” (Limelight Magazine) arrangement of Debussy’s “Clair de Lune,” and works from Spain, Latin America, and Australia that have shaped their musical identity.

The title track, Sidekick, is a “a musical telling of the duo’s brotherly dynamics both on stage and off” written by award-winning composer Katie Jenkins. In Jenkins’ own words, “They make fun of each other but need each other, they compete with one another but are stronger together.” Natives of Melbourne and graduates of the Masters Program at The Juilliard School, Ziggy and MileswerethefirstAustralians and first guitar duo accepted into the school’s prestigiousArtist Diploma program, where they also received the Norman Benzaquen Career Advancement Grant. They studied under multiple Grammy winner Sharon Isbin, who shaped and inspired their artistic identities.

In 2024-2025, the duo served as the Musicians-in-Residence at the Dumbarton Oaks historic, gardens-renowned estate in Washington, D.C. Dumbarton Oaks serves as a Harvard University research institute (humanities and garden-landscape studies), museum and library.

Please join Steeple Concerts at St. Paul’s on Sunday, January 18 at 5 p.m. for a very special afternoon of great music.
