Keta Medical Center Expands Access to Medically-Rigorous Ketamine Therapy in Westfield

WESTFIELD – Keta Medical Center opened its newest clinic location in Westfield, New Jersey. The clinic marks the mental health provider’s seventh location as the team at Keta Medical Center works to set the standard for clinically-proven ketamine therapy.

The growing network of clinics signals a continued need across the tristate area for individuals facing treatment-resistant mental health conditions including depression, anxiety, PTSD, OCD and others. Keta Medical Center is bringing its medical model, in which every treatment is administered under the direct supervision of emergency medicine physicians, to Westfield and the greater Union County area. Both Spravato (esketamine) nasal spray and IV ketamine therapy infusions are offered at the Westfield clinic and all Keta Medical Center locations, and integrated therapy and psychiatric care are available to patients who need it.

“We are thrilled to call Westfield our newest home and begin caring for this vibrant community,” said Dr. Haviva Malina, co-founder of Keta Medical Center. “We founded Keta Medical Center after watching patients struggle to find effective mental health care treatment. Our expansion to Westfield isn’t simply a new location – it’s an opportunity to bring effective, safe and life-changing treatment to more patients. By bringing our physician-led model to Westfield, we are ensuring that patients have access to ketamine therapy that is not only effective but administered with the highest standard of care.”

Approximately 30 percent of the 20 million adults with depression do not respond to traditional psychiatric medications – for these individuals, ketamine therapy offers a lifeline. Studies report a more than 70 percent response rate for patients with Treatment- Resistant Depression (TRD) and clinically significant effectiveness as early as four hours post-treatment. At Keta Medical Center, patients receive an impactful alternative to those left behind by standard care, Ketamine therapy can be effective for patients experiencing depression, anxiety, PTSD, postpartum depression, OCD and other mental health conditions by increasing the neuroplasticity within the brain. The result is that patients are able to form new neural pathways and develop fresh coping skills and navigate challenges.

“The impact of ketamine therapy has been nothing short of life-changing,” said Daphne E., a Keta Medical Center patient. “Before ketamine therapy, I felt that I was running out of options to treat my chronic depression. The team at Keta Medical Center has truly been by my side through my entire treatment journey. They are invested in the success of each and every patient, and make you feel comforted, valued and cared for.”

Dedicated to setting the gold standard in care, Keta Medical Center closely collaborates with patients’ existing psychotherapists and psychiatrists to optimize outcomes, prioritize patient safety and coordinate care. For patients without existing mental health care providers, Keta Medical Center has psychotherapists and psychiatrists on staff – in addition to the board-certified emergency medicine physicians and licenses nurses who are on-site during every treatment.

Keta Medical Center’s patient-centric approach to care reaches far beyond interactions with its industry leading health professionals. Difficulty with scheduling and insurance prove to be major barriers to mental health care, so Keta Medical Center removes these hurdles. Patients can schedule appointments seven days a week, 12 hours a day at any of Keta Medical Center’s locations. Keta Medical Center simplifies the patient journey by handling the administrative burden of insurance verification and management for patients on Spravato for TRD.

Founded by Dr. Haviva Malina and Dr. Cheryl Malina, both ER physicians with over 15 years’ experience, Keta Medical Center was born from seeing first-hand the urgent need for more effective mental health treat-ments— especially during the COVID-19 pandemic.

With seven locations across New York and New Jersey, the Center fosters inclusive, compassionate care for all the 30 percent of people who do not respond to traditional antidepressants.
