Anthony Cavallo

Anthony Cavallo – Beloved Husband, Father and Grandfather

Anthony Cavallo, 77, of Sea Girt, New Jersey, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family. Born and raised in East Orange, New Jersey, Anthony was the devoted son of Anthony “Andy” Cavallo and Theresa “Teddy” D’Amore, and the beloved brother of Joyce Marino.

Anthony leaves behind his loving wife, Kathy (Herlihy) Cavallo; his cherished son, Christian Cavallo, and daughter-in-law, Amelia Hanley Cavallo; and his adored grandchildren, Angie, Joseph, and Thomas, who brought him immense joy. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Tim Herlihy; sister-in- law, Margarie Herlihy Young and her husband, Kevin Young; seven nieces, four grandnephews, and many beloved cousins and dear friends.

Anthony was an educator at heart—a lifelong lover of learning and teaching. He attended Oratory Preparatory School and earned both his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Seton Hall University. Over the years, he taught in high schools and community colleges, and later in his career found great fulfillment facilitating workshops for senior citizens, leading thoughtful discussions on world history.

A true history buff, Anthony delighted in exploring the past and connecting it to the present. His passions also included travel, classical music, and reading. An avid reader and devoted lover of books, Anthony surrounded himself with literature and ideas. On his desk sat a plaque that read, “When I die I imagine that heaven will be something like a Library…” – a reflection of his deep belief that knowledge, imagination, and quiet contemplation were among life’s greatest joys.

Anthony brought his deep commitment to education into the corporate world, serving as Director of Management Education at Combustion Engineering. Together with his wife, Kathy, he later founded Corporate Consultant Group, a research and education firm dedicated to leadership excellence. Above all, Anthony will be remembered as a kind and gentle soul— thoughtful, curious, and deeply caring. His warmth, intellect, and generosity of spirit touched many lives, and he will be profoundly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Viewing will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2026 from 4-8 p.m. at O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35, Wall. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered on Thursday, January 15 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mark’s RC Church, Sea Girt. Committal is private.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org or to the NJ Chapter, 23 Vreeland Road #105, Florham Park, NJ 07932.
