Trailing by two at halftime, the Cranford High School girls basketball team caught fire with a 13-4 third-quarter run to slip past the Oak Knoll Royals, 36-26, in Summit on December 15. Three days later, the 20 Cougars went to the edge with the Union Catholic Vikings in Scotch Plains but prevailed, 35-34.
