Jenn Gilman is the kind of person who sees a problem, rolls up her sleeves, and gets to work. She doesn’t just complain and hope someone else fixes it – she dives in, finds solutions, and does so with thoughtfulness and diplomacy. Jenn truly embodies the “get it done” spirit, and that’s why I’m proud to endorse her for Town Council in Ward 3.

When I first moved to Westfield, juggling city commutes and preschoolers — a balance many of you know — Jenn was one of the first welcoming faces I met in my daughter’s 2’s class. Around that time, she was involved in facilitating a moms’ group at a local church, knowing parents needed a way to connect. It was a small gesture that built a lasting sense of community for so many who were new to town.

After the tragedy at Sandy Hook, I was searching for a way to turn worry into action. Jenn invited me to join her volunteer work with Moms Demand Action, where she was already deeply involved in advocacy for sensible gun control. She saw the need for safer schools and became determined to make a difference, rallying others.

Years later, when our daughters attended Edison Intermediate School, Jenn again stepped up as Co-President of the PTSO while I served as Secretary. She built bridges between parents, administrators, and district leadership — a demanding and often thankless role that she handled with energy, humor, and grace.

Jenn’s leadership extends beyond the schools. At Temple Emanu-El, she’s a welcoming presence, and as chair of Westfield’s Recreation Commission, she shares updates, programs, and events that strengthen our community. Those who know Jenn see the pattern clearly: when she sees a need, she steps up.
