The Hypocrisy of Mike Domogala, Republican Mayoral Candidate

Over the past few years, Councilman Mike Domogala has shown us that he is willing to say things needed to get elected.

Domogala has presented himself as a moderate Republican who says partisanship has no place in local government. But in reality, his campaign is being run by the same national political consultants who managed the races of deeply partisan figures like U.S. Rep. Tom Kean Jr. and Republican gubernatorial candidate Jack Ciaterelli.

Domogala campaigned specifically to end what he called the “rubber-stamping machine” and unchecked power of Mayor Shelley Brindle, who he has publicly and repeatedly vilified. But in reality, in the two years that he’s been on the Town Council, he has voted with her over 99 percent of the time, on over 600 votes. This is hypocrisy at its finest.

Domogala campaigned about stopping high-density housing yet voted to approve the fourth round of affordable housing, which will lead to more apartments being built over the next 10 years.

Domogala now campaigns with fear ridden warnings of rising crime while at the same time taking credit for police successes in reducing crime resulting from actions taken prior to his time on Town Council.

Domogala’s actions speak louder than his hypocritical campaign words.

Finally, and perhaps most importantly, Domogala claims a commitment to integrity, but has maligned upstanding members of the community. Only a few months ago, he issued a statement attacking and publicly calling into question the “ethical leadership” of the President of our Volunteer Rescue Squad. At the recent candidates’ forum, Domogala made sure to call attention to community leaders he felt slighted by, including a well-known and respected local small business owner. The fact that he’s taken aim at respected members of our community without cause, all in an effort to score political points is very concerning.

This is not how our leaders should communicate with our community. These actions show a lack of integrity. Don’t be duped by Domogala.
