Storm Floods Multiple Parts of Westfield, Other Union Co. Towns
WESTFIELD — Westfield and Union County were inundated with flash flooding Monday evening after a major storm cell moved through the region. In Westfield, flooding began around 5 p.m. after an hour of heavy rain, and continued late into the evening. The National Weather Center reported that the Westfield area received more than six inches of rain by 8 p.m., where neighboring Scotch Plains received a reported 7.9 inches. Union County saw up to 2.07 inches of rain per hour that night, the second- highest recorded rainfall in recent years after Hurricane Ida dropped 3.65 inches of rain per hour in 2021.
