Giovanni Di Sarro

Giovanni Di Sarro, 90, Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather

With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Giovanni Di Sarro, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and uncle. Giovanni, 90, passed away on Friday, May 30, 2025. Born and raised in Pietracupa, Italy, he immigrated to the United States in 1963, settling in Westfield, N.J., where he built a life with his adoring wife, Ubaldina, and children, Maria Assunta and Amedeo.

Giovanni was a creative entrepreneur. He began as a taxi driver and furniture refinisher in Rome, Italy. After moving to the U.S., he worked at Acro Furniture in Montclair, N.J. In the late 1970s, he founded Electrospray Refinishing, and in 1989, he and his late wife ran Moonlight Tuxedos in Westfield, sharing many joyful years with their customers before retiring.

Giovanni was a lifelong learner, artistic and always exploring. He loved to draw and paint, play tennis and piano, and sing his favorite Italian songs. In his later years, he took up computer programming and website design.

A proud father of two children, Giovanni was the patriarch of his family. He was a cherished Nonno to his four grandchildren and five greatgrandchildren. His favorite seat was the head of the table, surrounded by loved ones and friends. He was affectionately known as the boss, the supervisor and the advisor. Any personal challenges that would come along, his family would always go to him for his wisdom and advice over a cup of espresso. He was predeceased by his beloved wife, Ubaldina. He is survived by his brother, Gelsomino Di Sarro, and his wife, Elvira; his daughter, Maria Santilli, and her husband, Roberto, and his son, Amedeo Di Sarro, and his wife, Lori; his grandchildren, Anthony, Christina, Nicholas and Daniel; and his great-grandchildren, Giuliana, Emma, Angelina, Alessia and Michela. He will be forever remembered and forever missed.

Finalmente e’ riunito con l’adorata Ubaldina.

Visitation took place at Dooley Colonial Home in Westfield on Sunday, June 1, from 2 to 6 p.m. A Funeral Mass was celebrated at St. Theresa’s Church in Kenilworth. Entombment followed at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to theAlzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org).
