Sarah F. Miller

Sarah F. Miller,

Beloved Mom and Grandmother

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Sarah Jayne Fehr Miller of Basking Ridge, N.J., at the age of 92. She passed away peacefully at her residence at Fellowship Village in Basking Ridge, N.J., surrounded by her family.

She was born February 13, 1933 in Detroit, Michigan, as a beloved child to Walter and Mary Blanche Fehr.

She was a resident of Westfield, N.J., for over 55 years.

She graduated from Cornell University with a Bachelor degree and received two Master degrees from Temple University.

She was an active member of The Presbyterian Church in Westfield, N.J., for over 55 years. She served as an elder, deacon, and as a member of several pastoral nominating committees, choir, hand bell choir, and Agape. She played a pivotal role in developing innovative worship services at the church for numerous years. She started the Senior Network Group at the church and served as President for many years. She planned several events, services and gatherings for the seniors of the church, which gave them a tremendous supportive group for each other.

She was an avid flute player/ teacher and played in the New Jersey Symphony and several services at the church. She traveled with choral groups throughout Europe. She was involved with the Westfield Service League for over 50 years. She was a home school instructor with the Westfield school system for over 20 years. She had a love of travel which she did extensively. She was able to visit every state in the U.S. and too many countries outside the U.S. to mention.

She was known as Tay to her friends. She was an exemplary Mom and human being. She embodied the best qualities: unconditional love, strength of spirit, and unending generosity that could be seen in her care for her family and friends. She touched so many people’s lives. She led a faithful Christian life, giving to the needy and not wanting any recognition. One of her major hopes in life was to be happy with friends and activities and good health. She accomplished all of these. She was a devout servant to God. May she rest in peace. She was loved by many and will be terribly missed.

She was predeceased by her parents, Walter and Blanche Fehr, and her beloved husband, the Reverend Hibbert Moss, of over 20 years.

She is survived by her children, son David Miller of Basking Ridge, N.J., and daughter Diana Kennedy of Raleigh, N.C., and her granddaughter, Jordan Miller of Basking Ridge, N.J.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Friday, April 25, 2025, at 11 a.m., at The Presbyterian Church in Westfield, 140 Mountain Avenue, Westfield, N.J. 07090.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in her honor to The Presbyterian Church in Westfield or The Salvation Army.
