Steeple Concert This Weekend

WESTFIELD – Steeple Concerts at St. Paul’s continues its 2024-2025 season on Sunday, November 17 at 5pm with the talented wind musicians of the Frisson Ensemble. The general public is cordially invited to attend this special musical event at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, located at 414 East Broad Street in Westfield.Areception will follow the performance, allowing concert attendees to meet and greet the Frisson players.

Frisson features the best and brightest of classical music’s stars. The group showcases emerging young artists, as well as seasoned professionals. In just a few seasons, the group has skyrocketed to become one of the leading classical music groups in their field.

The word “frisson” is derived from the French word meaning “a shiver or a thrill, a sudden feeling of excitement.” Frisson audiences, frequently, have attested tofeelingthisemotion(andmore!). It is a response that Frisson hopes their November 17 Steeple Concert audience will likewise experience. To ensure this response, these virtuoso wind players perform a wide variety of music for winds in various combinations. Their concerts feature trios, quartets and quintets by such composers as Beethoven, Mozart, Francaix, Poulenc, William Grant Still,Valerie Coleman, Gershwin, Paquito d’Rivera and many more.

All Frisson musical artists have impressive biographies. Many have performed in such prestigious venues as the Verbier Festival, Aspen Music Festival, Marlboro Festival, and Ravinia Festivals as well as in Carnegie Hall andLincolnCenter’sDavidGeffenHall in New York City.

Frisson’s November 17 performance at St. Paul’s will feature five players on five different instruments: Clarinet, Flute, Oboe, Bassoon and French Horn.

Concert tickets are priced at $30 for adults and $15 for students. Attendees can purchase tickets at the door, or online at www.steepleconcerts.org.. Concert parking is available in the St. Paul’s parking lot (off of Euclid Avenue) or on St. Paul’s Street next to the church.
