Nicolina ‘Nickie’ Ianiro

Nicolina ‘Nickie’ Ianiro, 91, Longtime Westfield Resident

Nicolina Ianiro (Nickie), 91, a longtime resident of Westfield and parishioner of the Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 20, 2024, at her home with her loving family by her side. Born in San Pietro in Valle, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Michele and Donata DiNezza.

She loved her family and enjoyed having everyone over for her big Italian meals. If you stopped by her house, she would always feed you. She loved gardening and sharing her bounty with her family, friends and neighbors. Prior to her illness, Nicolina could be seen walking to church every morning to celebrate Mass. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. Nicolina loved the simple pleasures of life, and above all else loved her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great grand dogs (Finn and Rocky).

Besides her parents, Nicolina was predeceased by her loving husband, Costanzo (Gus); daughter and sonin- law, Donna and Bruce Bucher; and sister and brother-in-law, Antonietta and Diamante Del Monaco. She is survived by her sister and brother-in-law, Linda and Jerry

Mc Cabe; daughters, Mary Ann Halloran ( Chris) and Diane Cappiello (Dave); seven grandchildren, Christine Bucher-Cuello (Craig), Ryan Halloran (Swetha), Michael Cappiello (Michelle), Alex Bucher (Alexa), Christopher Halloran (Meghan), Kevin Halloran and Benjamin Cappiello (Madison); and five great-grandchildren, Cole Cuello, Logan Halloran, Riya Halloran, Ellie Halloran and Melina Cappiello. Nicolina is also survived by many nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed by all. Nicolina’s family is extremely grateful for the compassionate care and friendship provided by Debbie DesBordes.

Friends may visit the family today, Thursday, September 26, 2024, from 4 to 7 p.m., at Dooley Colonial Home in Westfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, September 27, 2024, at 10:30 a.m., at the Holy Trinity Church in Westfield. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Westfield Rescue Squad, 335 Watterson Street, Westfield, N.J. 07090, in memory of Nickie.
