FANWOOD

Sunday, June 30, the owner of Fanwood Liquors, located at 61 South Avenue, reported that a six-pack of Bud Light beer was stolen from the store. The incident was documented by patrol officers.

SCOTCH PLAINS

Friday, June 7, Adriana Hurtado, 60, of Springfield was arrested as the result of a motor vehicle stop. Police stopped Hurtado and discovered she had an open criminal warrant out of the Elizabeth Police Department. She was turned over to the Elizabeth Police Department.

Friday, June 7, Roosevelt Bryant, 38, of Plainfield was arrested and charged with obstruction and also had an open warrant out of Plainfield. Police arrested Bryant after the QuickChek located on Terrill Road called about a male yelling and throwing objects at patrons. After being stopped and refusing to give his name to the responding police officer, Bryant was placed under arrest. Once his identity was confirmed, the warrant was confirmed and Bryant was given a new court date. He was released on a summons for the criminal charge.

Saturday, June 8, Jerson Bol Choc, 37, of Plainfield was arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence (DUI). Police observed Bol Choc driving erratically on Terrill Road. After assistance from the Watchung Police Department with the sobriety tests, Bol Choc was placed under arrest. Following a confirmed BAC of .15 percent, Bol Choc was issued summonses and released to a family member.

Sunday, June 9, Sirat Hashimi, 25, of Elizabeth was arrested as the result of a motor vehicle stop. He had a warrant out of the Woodbridge Police Department. Hashimi was processed and released after posting bail.

Wednesday, June 12, the Power Gas & Diesel station, located on Route 22 East, reported that a customer responded to pick up his car after work was completed. The owner of the vehicle left the business before paying for the work, which totaled $3,721. This matter is under investigation.

Thursday, June 13, a resident of Patriots Way reported a stolen package. The victim stated that a child car seat was delivered and was left at the entrance to the building on June 11. On June 13, the package was missing. This matter is under investigation.

Friday, June 14, a resident of Green Hickory Hill reported a theft. The victim stated that they paid an employee of Academy Garage Door $1,000 for work; however, the work was never completed. This matter is under investigation.

Friday, June 14, Maurice Heywood, 57, of Newark was arrested as the result of a motor vehicle stop. Police stopped Heywood and discovered a warrant out of the South Plainfield Police Department. Heywood was given a new court date and released.

Tuesday, June 18, Dontay Julius, 27, of Linden was arrested as the result of a motor vehicle stop. Police stopped Julius and discovered an open warrant out of the Kenilworth Police Department. He was processed and released with a new court date.

Wednesday, June 19, Sergio Vizcaino, 40, of Piscataway was arrested and charged with DUI. Vizcaino was asleep in his motor vehicle at the Exxon Gas Station on Route 22 East. He was processed, and after giving breath samples, was found to have a .21 percent BAC. He was charged and turned over to a responsible adult.

Wednesday, June 19, a work van was reported stolen from Briarcliffe Drive at 6:25 a.m. At 8:25 a.m., detectives found the vehicle had hit cameras in Newark at South 16th Street and Avon Avenue. At 10:20 a.m., Scotch Plains detectives recovered the work van and tools on South 19th Street. The van was processed and returned to the owner.

Thursday, June 20, a resident of Hoe Avenue reported that someone had entered his motor vehicle overnight and took items totaling approximately $190. This matter is under investigation.

WESTFIELD

Tuesday, June 18, an unknown suspect, described as a Caucasian male of thin build, with brown hair, wearing a red hat, and standing approximately 5 feet and 10 inches tall, stole a tip jar from a kiosk in the parking lot of the South Side Train Station. The operator of the kiosk stated that there was only approximately $5 in the jar at the time.

Tuesday, June 18, a resident of the 1100 block of Boynton Avenue reported items stolen/missing from her residence. According to the resident, sometime between May 31 and June 18, three pieces of jewelry were stolen/ missing from inside the residence. The total value of the stolen/missing items is approximately $2,300.

Wednesday, June 19, a resident of the 900 block of Lawrence Avenue reported being the victim of creditcard fraud. The victim reported that an unknown person(s) made an unauthorized transaction using his creditcard account to purchase approximately $7,400 worth of miscellaneous items from a “Vape and Smoke Shop” distributor. The distributor was located in Roseland. At this time, the victim is at a monetary loss until further investigation.

Wednesday, June 19, a resident of the 1700 block of Boulevard was approached by someone they described as a large, White male with a heavy Irish accent. The subject offered to perform roofing work on the owner’s home and without permission placed a ladder on the side of the home and accessed the roof before demanding a $2,500 down payment in cash.

Thursday, June 20, Santiago Clavijo, 29, of Union was detained roadside after a motor vehicle stop at West Broad Street and Lamberts Mill Road for an outstanding traffic warrant out of Elizabeth Municipal Court for the amount of $750. Clavijo was released on scene with a new Elizabeth Municipal Court date pending.

Thursday, June 20, Westfield Police Department personnel responded to Scudder Road for a property-theft incident. Specifically, the victim reported that numerous pieces of jewelry were removed from their residence by moving company personnel during the course of moving the victim’s belongings. The missing jewelry is valued at approximately $2,600.
