AREA—RepresentativeAndyKim, who garnered 75 percent of Tuesday’s Primary votes, will face off against Republican challenger Curtis Bashaw, the owner of a large-scale hotel in Cape May, in November for control of a U.S. Senate seat currently held by Robert Menendez.

Mr. Menendez, who presently is on trial for federal bribery charges, says he plans to run as an Independent candidate.

Mr. Kim outperformed fellow Democrats Patricia Campos-Medina (16 percent) and Lawrence Hamm (9 percent) to secure his party’s nomination, while Mr. Bashaw, who earned 45.6 percent of the Republican vote, defeated challengers Christine Serrano Glassner (38.6 percent), Justin Murphy (11.2 percent) and Albert Harshaw (4.6 percent).

At the local level, freshman Congressman Thomas Kean, Jr., who secured 78 percent of this year’s Republican party votes, will square off against Sue Altman, a Democratic challenger and the executive director of the New JerseyWorking FamiliesAlliance, who ran uncontested in the race for the Seventh District.

In District 10, the late Donald Payne, Jr., who passed away earlier this year after announcing his intention to seek re-election, was posthumously declared the victor of this year’s Democratic Primary.Aspecial Primary comprised of 11 Democratic challengers and one Republican, Carmen Bucco, will be held next month to fill the remainder of his unexpired term.

Former President Donald Trump, who was recently convicted on 34 New York State felony charges, secured the New Jersey Republican nomination, while President Joe Biden, who currently is seeking re-election, garnered the Democratic nod.

There were no municipal or countylevel Primaries held locally this year.
