The second-seeded Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School baseball team boosted its record to 20-8 with a 13-7 victory over the 15th-seeded Franklin Warriors in the first round of the North Jersey, Section 2, Group 4 Tournament in Scotch Plains on May 24.
Leading the Raiders was Jaden Carpien who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and three runs scored. Ryan Quinones went 2-for-3 with a double, two stolen bases, two RBI and two runs scored. Matt Greisman doubled, singled, scored twice, stole a base and had an RBI. Anthony Veglia also went 2-for-3 with three RBI, a walk and a run scored. Matt Capozzolo was the winning pitcher.
Izaiah Robinson went 3-for-5, with two RBI, two runs scored and a stolen base for the 10-13 Warriors. Warren Bell doubled, singled and had an RBI. Shaylen Patel singled, scored, had an RBI and walked twice. The Raiders hosted seventh-seeded Hunterdon Central in the quarterfinal round on May 29.
