Cougars Fall to W. Morris Girls, Jolt UC Vikings on Senior Night

The Cranford High School girls lacrosse team came up on the short side of a 12-7 decision to West Morris on May 13. But on Senior Night, May 17, the 10-8 Cougars jolted the Union Catholic Vikings in Cranford, 15-3.

Kristina Lowe scored three goals and scooped four ground balls for the Cougars against West Morris. Shea Matheson had two goals and a ground ball. Lila Fernandez scored once. Lyla Wilhelm had 10 draw controls, an assist and a ground ball. Bella Graceffo scooped four ground balls and Carly Lynch had three ground balls. Goalkeeper Ashlyn Quigley recorded eight saves.

Kate Barisonek scored four goals for West Morris and Riley Cline scored twice and had two ground balls. Lauren Carbon scored twice and added three draws and a ground ball. Brooke Cubbage had a goal, two draws and a ground ball. Keira Duffy had a goal and a ground ball. Charlotte Wu had an assist. Goalkeeper Paytin Crisp recorded 22 saves.

Lowe netted three goals, two assists and four ground balls against the Vikings. Fernandez had two goals, an assist and two ground balls. Lynch scored twice and had three ground balls. Matheson had a goal, assist, four draws and four ground balls. Shaye Burns netted a goal, two assists and two ground balls. Grace Mikesell and Sienna Merk (2 ground balls, draw control) each scored once. Elena Amitie had a goal, ground ball and two draw controls. Lexi Kruk finished with a goal, three ground balls and a draw control. Vanessa Kelly had a goal and two draws.Abby Folvik scooped three ground balls. Quigley recorded five saves and two ground balls.

Catherine Holt scored all three goals for the Vikings and added seven draw controls and four ground balls. Shannon McGuiness had three draws and three ground balls. Charlotte Donnelly scooped three ground balls and added a draw control. Goalkeeper Julia Landicho recorded 13 saves and Sophia Gallego made two saves.
