Panel Discussion at Library to Address Energy Efficiency

WESTFIELD — The Alternative Energy Team of the Westfield Green Team will present an evening training event focused on energy efficiency topics, entitled “Learn Three Major Strategies to Improve your Energy Efficiency.” It will take place on Monday, May 20, at 7 p.m., at the Westfield Memorial Library. A panel discussion will cover: Home EnergyAudits, Solar Panels and Heat Pumps.

Scott Fischer launched Ciel Power LLC, an energy efficiency consultancy, over a decade ago. Since then, he has guided it to national recognition. As managing member, he collaborates with environmental groups, officials and sustainability experts, fostering community partnerships that boost energy efficiency awareness.

Under Mr. Fischer’s leadership, Ciel Power has received ENERGY STAR’s Home Performance with ENERGY STAR Contractor of the Year Award and earned the prestigious ENERGY STAR Sustained Excellence Award, distinguishing it among the top 1 percent of its peers. Mr. Fischer has been featured in The New York Times, Realtor Magazine and on “ABC World News Tonight,” among other sources.

Walter Korfmacher, Ph.D., a retired chemist, is a member of the Westfield Green Team as well as the Rotary Club of Westfield. He will discuss the benefits of solar panels.

Allen Rice and Scott Sharkey of Lennox Industries will discuss the benefits and costs associated with heat pumps. Mr. Rice has been a field technical consultant with Lennox for five years, and Mr. Sharkey has been with the company for approximately 25 years, the last three years as a territory sales manager. Both have been in the HVAC industry for about 40 years.
