Tour of Notable Homes Offers Something for Everyone

WESTFIELD — People who love grand homes, and families looking for something fun to do together on Mother’s Day weekend, have a treat in store: The Tour of Notable Homes, presented by the Friends of New Jersey Festival Orchestra, is back, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., on Saturday, May 11.

Participants on the tour, which is a major funding source for the orchestra, will have the opportunity to enjoy a stylish medley of distinguished local residences reflecting Westfield’s rich architectural history as well to check out some of the hottest new properties in town. Whether you’re an aficionado of grand architecture, or looking for inspiration for your own renovation project, or just seeking a memorable Mother’s Day outing with the family, this event promises an enriching experience.

This year’s tour includes a 1904 Craftsman home in the historic Dudley Park neighborhood, a south-side brand new custom construction modern farmhouse, a completely renovated 1960s ranch residence, a recently renovated grand 100-year-old home that marries timeless and modern, and a landmark Colonial Revival home c.1905 with historic designation considered to be one of the finest examples of the period in Westfield.

The tour also includes live music presented by gifted students from the Junior Musical Club of Westfield, refreshments and door prizes.

Keith Hertell, president of the NJ Festival Orchestra Board of Trustees, observes, “The Friends are truly the ‘wind beneath the wings of the orchestra’. Without the proceeds of this massive undertaking each year, we could never make our world-class professional music possible. Our heartfelt thanks go to The Friends members, the assistance of their families and the generosity of the ‘notable’ homeowners.”

The orchestra’s Music Director, David Wroe says, “What a memorable day out on this Mother’s Day weekend! I am anxious to tour these fantastic homes and enjoy the music as well as the magnificent decor – we look forward to seeing you there.”

Tickets for this year’s Tour of Notable Homes are $50 and can be purchased on-line at www.njfestivalorchestra.org. On the day of the tour ticket prices are $55. Tickets can also be purchased at Baron’s Family Pharmacy, Westfield and at Christoffer’s Flowers and Gifts, in Mountainside. Further information is available at www.njwestivalorchestra.org or by visiting the Friends of NJ Festival Orchestra on Facebook.
