Blue Devils Top Cresskill, Stung by Ramapo Cagers

The Westfield High School girls basketball team recorded a strong 17-8, third-quarter run to outpace Cresskill, 51-43, in Westfield on February 15. On February 17, Ramapo came through with a 13-6, fourth quarter to sting the 10-15 Blue Devils, 40-38.

Blue Devil Sara Rooney scored 13 points, including a 3-pointer, and added seven rebounds, two assists and a steal against Cresskill. Mairin Fowler sank nine points, including a 3-pointer, and added a steal and a rebound. Catherine Oliveira finished with eight points, five assists, five rebounds and two steals. Megan Logan had seven points, four blocks, five rebounds, an assist and a steal. Sophie Lane (4 rebounds, steal) and Lucy Burke (6 rebounds, steal) each scored six points and Darby Hubner had two points, two steals and a block.

Erin Fahey led 14-11 Cresskill with a double-double (17 points, 11 rebounds), two steals and a block. Sophia Doto finished with seven points (3-pointer) and two assists. Julia Hasenstab scored seven points (2 3-pointers) and Aya Catran had seven points (3-pointer) and an assist. Catlin McGee sank a 3-pointer and had three rebounds. Maddie Morgan had two points, two rebounds and two assists.

Fowler put in 10 points, including a pair of 3-pointers) against Ramapo and added five rebounds, three assists and a steal. Logan was tough across the board with eight points, five assists, five blocks, five rebounds and a steal. Hubner netted eight points, two rebounds, a steal and an assist. Lane finishedwithsevenpoints,sixrebounds, two assists, two blocks and two steals. Oliveira had three steals, three points, four rebounds and an assist. Burke pulled six boards and added two points, a block and an assist.

Cayla Menicola led Ramapo with 16 points (3-pointer, 7-for-8 free throws) and six rebounds. Camden Epstein finished with 13 points (trip 3-pointers), four rebounds and three steals. Toni Pernetti had six points, three assists, three steals and three rebounds. Ashley DeLeo sank a pair of free throws and added nine rebounds, five steals and four assists. Lee Ann Downey had two points and three steals. Ella Saxton had five rebounds and a free throw.
