Jeffrey DeChellis

Jeffrey DeChellis Committed to Serving Others

Jeffrey DeChellis, 62, of Middlesex, N.J., passed away on Wednesday, February 14, 2024, in Edison, N.J. He was born August 9, 1961, in Plainfield, N.J.

Jeff was a dedicated and compassionate individual known for his unwavering commitment to his work and his loved ones. He started his career while in high school, volunteering for the Westfield Rescue Squad in 1978. Over the years, he pursued his passion for health care, becoming a Respiratory Therapy Technician in 1982 and obtaining his paramedic Certificate in July 1983. Jeff served in various roles, including as a CPR and ACLS instructor, a Flight Paramedic and a clinical coordinator at Somerset Medical Center and JFK Medical Center. In his final years, he worked as a paramedic and flight medic at Atlantic Health Systems.

Outside of work, Jeff’s family was his life. He cherished spending time with his children – Brady, Michelle, Carolanne and Meagan; his brother, Rick; his sister, Debbie, and brother-in-law, Paul; partner, Eugene Mayer, and extended family members. Jeff enjoyed hosting summertime BBQs and gatherings with friends and family.

Jeff is survived by his children, brother, sister, brother-in-law, partner, and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Joan Brown DeChellis, and father,Anthony J. DeChellis.

A service will be held at McCriskin-Gustafson Middlesex Funeral Home in Piscataway, N.J., today, Thursday, February 22, from 4 to 8 p.m. A private cremation will follow, with a family burial at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the MSA Coalition, 7918 Jones Beach Drive, Suite 300, McLean, Va. 22102, or to the Jeff DeChellis Scholarship Fund, c/o Debbie Dunn, 230 Hawthorne Street, Scotch Plains, N.J. 07076.
