Mendham Burns Raiders In Swim Quarters, 87-83

The final event would determine which team would advance to the semifinal round of the North 2, Group B Tournament and the 11-3 Mendham boys swim team took first and third in the 400-free relay to secure an 87-83 victory over the 6-5 Scotch Plains-Fanwood Raiders on February 7.

Mendham’s Raaghav Reddy, Martin Salazar, Dimitri Federov and Ken Barnicle took first in that event at 3:17.23, followed by Raiders Harrison McClure, Matt Iannotta, Keith Karyczak and Aaron Frank at 3:29.7, while Justin Petino, Kiam Abraham, Riccardo Casali and Aidan McTighe touched third at 3:37.55. Reddy, Ken Barnicle, Salazar and Federov also won the first event, the 200-medley relay, in 1:38.22, followed very closely by Raiders McClure, Frank, Karyczak and Dylan Condell at 1:38.99, and Raiders Luke Iannotta, Connor Scarpa, Gokul Ramanan and Ryan Scarpa at 1:48.94.

McClure finished first in the 200free at 1:51.87, followed by Federov at 1:55.67, Patino at 2:00.97 and Raider Rob Lambert at 2:02.37. McClure also took first in the 500free at 4:57.57, followed by M. Barnicle at 5:08.57, Salazar at 5:20.83 and Lambert at 5:32.4. Matt Iannotta finished first in the 100-butterfly at 55.74, followed by Salazar at 56.51 and Ramanan at 57.71. Matt Iannotta, Eryn Gulbin, Ryan Scarpa and Condell won the 200-free relay in 1:35.68, followed by Mendham’s M. Barnicle, Casali, Patino and Luke Martinez at 1:37.18, and Will Parsnick, Enzo Guillon, Blake von Deventer and Ian Wadle at 1:41.15.

K. Barnicle won the 200-Individual Medley, followed by Karyczak at 2:07.82 and Raider Alex Holston at 2:16.08. Reddy won the 50-free in 22.32, followed by Condell at 23.45 and Gulbin at 23.78. Federov won the 100-free in 50.16, followed by Frank at 50.81, Condell at 52.45 and Gulbin at 53.17. Reddy won the 100-backstroke in 53.04, followed by Frank at 57.5 and M. Barnicle in 1:01.61. K. Barnicle won the 100-breaststroke in 57.93, followed by Karyczak at 1:03.97 and Mendham’s Wardle at 1:05.64.
