Julie Morris Receives RIT Performing Arts Scholarship

ROCHESTER, N.Y. — Julie Morris of Cranford has received a partial scholarship to Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) to pursue performing arts in vocal music.

Ms. Morris, a graduate of Union County Vocational-Technical High School, is a first-year student in the Graphic Design BFA program.

Since 2019, more than 1,800 RIT students have received Performing Arts scholarships, renewable for up to five years, as long as the students stay involved in performing arts. The students come from each of RIT’s nine colleges, with the majority from engineering and computer sciences.

A School of Performing Arts opened last year at RIT to offer nonmajors in performing arts more opportunities to continue their performing passions in college. The opportunities for performing artists continue to grow on the RIT campus with the addition of two new buildings being erected to provide more rehearsal, stage, studio and theater spaces. For more information, visit: www/rit.edu/liberalarts/school-performing- arts. Founded in 1829, RIT enrolls more than 20,500 students in 200 careeroriented and professional programs, making it among the largest private universities in the United States.
