Sly and the Family Stone had a hit song called “It’s a Family Affair” in 1971 then on November 6, 2023 at Gary Kehler Stadium in Westfield another Family Affair took center stage during the North Jersey, Section 2, Group 4 Championship game between the top-seeded, No. 14ranked Blue Devils and the secondseeded, No. 8-ranked Hunterdon Central Red Devils. Just over four minutes into the game, senior co-captain Ella Cadigan sent a cross to her younger sister, freshman Emilie Cadigan, who scored the only goal that was needed to earn the Blue Devils their second title in three years.
