They’ve ‘Got the Beat’ at CDC Theatre with Go-Go’s Music

CRANFORD – The British female pop-rock group the Go-Go’s has been popular since the late ‘70s. In fact, they have sold more than seven million records worldwide. But even if you think you aren’t familiar with their music, the Cranford Dramatic Club (CDC) Theatre’s production of the musical of the group’s music Head over Heels will change your mind. With the first chords of “We Got the Beat” audience members’ feet started tapping and heads started bobbing in recognition. The jukebox musical comedy is a feel-good show based on the Elizabethan poet Sir Philip Sidney's work, “The Countess of Pembroke’s Arcadia.” Jeff Whitty wrote the book which James Magruder then adapted. Gender identity and acceptance of others is the bedrock of this full-out musical celebration of love.
