HRAC Chairman Supports Katz for Council

I am writing to express my strong support for Scott Katz for Ward 4 Town Council. As Chairperson of Westfield’s Human Relations Advisory Commission (HRAC), I have seen first-hand Scott’s compassion and enthusiasm for our town. Scott is the Town Council Liaison to HRAC and has been an extremely active member of the Commission. For those unfamiliar with our work, HRAC serves as a resource and community partner to uproot, dismantle, and eradicate hate, prejudice, racism, and bias to foster an inclusive Westfield that appreciates our commonalities and celebrates our diversity.

Over the past year, HRAC has supported diversity and inclusion events at the Westfield Memorial Library and a Tour of Westfield Houses of Worship. In response to racial slurs written on the grounds of Jefferson School, we developed a “Walk the Chalk” program where the students at Westfield elementary schools chalked words of inclusion, hope and kindness on the sidewalks after school. Scott was a huge part of the success of these events. Somehow, in addition to all of Scott’s family, work, and Westfield Town Council commitments, Scott has always been available to support the Commission’s events and support the HRAC mission to provide an inclusive and diverse Westfield.

Scott’s energy is unparalleled and his commitment to making Westfield as great as it can be is truly incredible.

Ward 4 is lucky to have Scott as their councilperson and will continue to benefit from Scott’s service for another term. I enthusiastically support Scott Katz for Ward 4 Town Council.
