I hope everyone is having an enjoyable summer and able to savor its remaining weeks with good times with friends and family. This summer has been a very busy one for the Garwood Mayor and Council as we continue to make progress on the plans we set out at the start of the year. First, I’m thrilled to welcome a great new addition to our Borough staff – our new Recreation Director, Katya Lysek, who will come on board full-time beginning in September. She has already gotten started working on fall programming and is looking to really get in gear with Rec Basketball and the rest of our Winter and Spring Activities. In order to give her a great big Garwood welcome, the Recreation Committee will be hosting an Ice Cream Night to coincide with the final Fire Department Pump Drill of the summer season at the YMCA on Monday,August 28. Come on out and meet Katya, cool down and enjoy some delicious treats!
